About

I have been an editor at Bookforum, a quarterly review of literature and the arts, since 2008.

BookForum, "Best of the Year" issue

In May 2026, I wrote “Why the Best Writing Advice Is Often the Weirdest” for the New Yorker—a review of Lucy Ives’s collection of writing exercises, three six five, that draws on my coaching practice.

My writing has also appeared in Affidavit, Artforum, Bookforum, 4Columns, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the New Yorker’s Page-Turner, the Paris Review Daily, and the Times Literary Supplement

In 2013,  I was the associate editor for Loop (Walker Art Center, 2013), the magazine edited by artist and musician Jason Moran. In 2018, I co-edited, with Lisa Darms, the book Weight of the Earth: The Tape Journals of David Wojnarowicz, published by Semiotext(e). It was reviewed in BOMB and Hyperallergic, excerpted for an Artforum cover story, and recommended by Dev Hynes of the band Blood Orange.

As a freelance editor and coach, I have fifteen years of experience working on art books, memoirs, trade non-fiction, essays, interviews, novels, proposals, pitches, and query letters. Get in touch to discuss your project!
